DIY Spa Day for Mom

Mother’s Day is right around the corner and what better gift to give to your mother than a day at the spa! Yes, a spa day can be expensive and if you have waited until last minute it may be hard to find an appointment for Mother’s Day. Don’t worry, we have put together a way you can transform your Sunspace Sunroom into a Spa your mom is sure to love!

To get your Sunroom spa ready you’ll need a few things:

  • Hot Towels
  • Scented Candles (unscented candles will work as well)
  • Face mask
  • Sugar Scrub
  • Foot Soak
  • Soothing music
  • Steam to open up the pores
  • Rose water (water with some essential oils in it as well will work to create a soothing atmosphere)
  • Comfy Chairs
  • Robe
  • Slippers
  • Snacks

You’ll need to get the steam music and candles lit prior to bringing your mom in the room. Trying to find a great face mask, sugar scrub and foot soak may be hard to find and expensive. We have a couple of recipes so you can use ingredients you have around the house to make your own.

Banana Facial Mask

What you’ll need:

  • 1 medium size ripe banana
  • ¼ Plain Yogurt (optional)
  • 2 Tablespoons honey (optional)

Mash up the banana in a bowl into a smooth paste, add in the yogurt and honey and stir until all ingredients are mixed and smooth. Gently apply the mask to the face and neck, wrap a warm towel around the neck and let it set for 1- to 20 minutes. Rinse with cold water.

Coffee Body Scrub with Coconut Oil

What you’ll need:

  • 1 Cup ground coffee
  • 1 cup sugar/salt (sugar is better)
  • ½ cup organic Coconut oil
  • ½ Tablespoon Cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract (optional)

Melt the coconut oil and let it cool, but don’t let it become solid again. Mix all the ingredients together and store it in a mason jar. Apply scrub to arms & hands to reduce stress and awaken your skin. Rinse when complete.

Honey and Lemon Foot Bath

What you’ll need:

  • Pedicure Bowl
  • Warm Water
  • Foot Stones (optional)
  • ½ cup of Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Lemon, Sliced

Pour the water into the pedicure bowl and add the foot stones then add in the other ingredients, stir and have your mother place her feet in the soak. Let soak for about 30 minutes, remove feet dry them off and rub them with lotion and cover them with some warm fuzzy socks for the rest of the day.

With your mom being pampered all day and being able to enjoy the beautiful views of he outdoors in your Sunroom, your mother will be so grateful for this DIY spa day. Bring in some of her favorite foods for her to snack on throughout the day and maybe even a glass of wine. The best part about this Mother’s Day gift is she will have leftover sugar scrub to use whenever she wants to remember her favorite Mother’s Day.

Don’t have a Sunroom to set up your spa in, no problem you can use a living room or any other enclosed room. Contact Grey Bruce Patio about having a Sunroom installed for next Mother’s Day! Call us at 519-376-9241 or visit us online.

Want To Really Scare Your Neighbors This Halloween?

We have noticed lately that people either really get into the holidays or they don’t participate at all. If your one of the few that still loves participating in the Halloween fun, then you are sure to love this great DIY Haunted House project.

There are a number of ways you can make your house super spooky, here are some great ideas to really give your neighborhood a scare!

Cemetery

If you have a large front yard that requires the trick or treaters to walk up a path to your house, take advantage of the space and create a spooky cemetery. Set up tombstones throughout your yard and use fake blood to create a horrifying scene. Set the mood with a fog machine or 2 and have a spooky soundtrack playing in the background. If you have some friends that want to partake in the fun get all dressed up in scary costumes and slowly walk out of the fog. Your neighbors won’t know what hit them!

Spooky Maze

A spooky Maze is a great way to have ample opportunity to scare the trick or treaters. Use your garage to set up this spooky maze and set up a couple of different scenes, if your garage is too small or you don’t have a garage you can always use your backyard or your newly built Sunspace Sunroom to create this spooky maze. Use cob web and fake blood splattered throughout the maze with a fog machine pushing the fog though the maze to set the scene and use a spooky soundtrack to get the trick or treater jittering in their costumes.

Simple but Scary

If you haven’t left much time to put together a haunted house but still want to participate in the Halloween fun, then we have a simpler solution that is equally as scary. You’ll need a flickering light bulb to replace your outside light with, some corn stalks a chair, cob webs and a plastic pumpkin head. Decorate the outside of your house with the flickering light bulb, corn stalk, the chair & cob webs. Next get yourself or your partner ready to sit outside dressed up as a scarecrow with the pumpkin head on. When it’s just about time for the trick or treaters to come out have the scare crown sit out on the porch with the bowl of candy in his lap or off to the side and when a trick or treater comes to get their candy give them a scare with a real life monster.

These are all great ways to add a little extra fun to this Halloween. Visit www.greybrucepatio.com to see all of our great services and to find out more information about a Sunspace Sunroom.

A Sunspace four season sunroom is one of the most versatile expansions you can add to your home.  No matter your interests you can convert your sunroom into the fun room of your choice. Here are some ideas on how to transform your space.

Hot tubs and Jacuzzi’s can be a great place to relax with a loved one. By turning your sunroom into a hot tub room you can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors without having to deal with pesky insects, rain or cold winter nights.

Watch the gently failing rain or the beautiful glistening snow and wind down after a long day at work. By adding a few floor pillows and some comfortable chairs you can create a sanctuary for you and your loved ones to enjoy. You can even make your Sunspace sunroom an electronic free zone for a more peaceful experience, creating a beautiful new space that will slow down your pace.

Artist Studio Sunroom

A sunroom is the most ideal space for your art studio because of all the natural light. Paint the room neutral colours to keep it bright and airy. Your sunroom art space can help inspire your next masterpiece.

Play Room

Sunrooms also make for a great playroom as it allows your children to enjoy the sunlight and fresh air even while playing indoors. You can add splashes of colour to make your playroom extra vibrant and fun. You can also add benches with under storage along the windows to help with clutter.

Indoor Garden Sunroom
